Bernetta Jane Stec - Tuscola Today

Bernetta was born December 12, 1929 in Port Hope, the daughter of the late Robert and Emma (Woodke) Finkel.  She was united in marriage with Walter Stec on June 7, 1952, and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2000.  She was employed as an inspector for thirteen years at Burroughs in Detroit, and then became a stay at home mom and farm helper as needed.  Bernetta was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro.  She enjoyed Bingo, scratch off lottery tickets, yard sales, going to casinos, and being with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Bernetta is survived by her children and their spouses, Steve Stec of Fairgrove, Ray & Lisa Stec of Caro, Shirley & Morrie Molnar of Caro; five grandchildren, Travis Stec, Misty & Mark Schultz, Wayne Stec, Marissa Stec and Brandi Stec; five great-grandchildren, Yasmine, Lizzy, Tristan, Hunter and Ashton; one sister, Arlene Harbin of Hartford; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Carol Ann; and two sisters, Betty Kinney and Lucille Dombrowski.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating.  Burial will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Stec Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Ray Stec, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723. Photo: WEYI/WSMH)INDIANFIELDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Families of fallen police officers have a new way to honor their loved ones.A memorial now sits in the Indianfields Township Cemetery.There's a really special organization called the Fraternal Order Of Police that worked hard on this.The local chapter in Caro wanted a permanent memorial.Families in Huron, Tuscola and Sanilac counties now have a place to honor those killed in the line of duty.Throughout 25 years of police work Bill Mac Nicol sadly watched his fellow officers leave on a call and not come back alive.“We don't want it to happen but it does. Going to work keep fingers crossed you come home alive you never know,” he said.Back in 2013 Bill and other Fraternal Order Of Police members started hosting a memorial service. Michigan State Police Chaplain Bill Sanders says it honors four fallen officers in Tuscola, Sanilac and Huron counties.“We want to support them their families and we also want to support those continuing to work and those that are retired because many of them are touched by a line of duty death no matter where it happens,” Bill Sanders said.From now on they have a permanent place to honor lost loved ones. On May 2, 2018 The Order will host its first service at the memorial site in the Indianfields Township Cemetery. For Bill Mac Nicol the name chief James Lounsberry stands out.“He was a great guy.
